JCGS Monthly Programs

Meetings are typically held in the Community Room of the Jackson County Library, every second Thursday, at 6:00 p.m. All JCGS events are free and open to the public.


October 18, 11:00 a.m.

The Jackson County Genealogical Society fundraiser will be held from 11:00 AM until 4:00 PM Saturday, October 18th at the Applegate Inn, 114 West Hemlock  Street in Dillsboro. There is parking at the venue or you can park in town and walk across the footbridge over Scotts Creek.

There will be a variety of entertainment. County music will be provided by the Deitz Family, the Jam Kids and young banjo player Landon Brooks. Gospel music group Turning Home will also be there. Curtis Blanton, local story teller extraordinaire, will share some of his best stories and Bill Crawford, local genealogy legend and historian will at times answer questions from the audience.  There may also be others. 

Their will exhibits on the history of Dillsboro and Jackson County and you may hear the story of the first car to ever enter Jackson County and who it’s occupants were. 

There will be several silent auction  items,  also several raffle items and some books and CD’s from the Genealogical Office for sale. 

Please bring a chair and join us for a day of fun, entertainment and family.
